Leonardo – Patron of The 5% Club
Leonardo is one of the biggest suppliers of defence equipment to the UK MoD and the largest Italian inward investor to the UK. The company generates exports worth around £1.3bn to the UK economy every year.
Leonardo’s long-term investment in emerging technologies and subsequent development of intellectual property in the UK is achieving export success and delivering huge economic benefits back into the UK, enabling investment in highly skilled jobs and helping to rebalance the UK’s economy.
Leonardo employs around 7,000 people throughout the UK, 67% of whom hold highly skilled positions. It is one of the largest employers of engineering apprentices and graduates in the UK, with some 415 people on undergraduate, graduate and apprentice training programmes. Its apprenticeship programme was rated as ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED.
In the UK Leonardo spends around £3.5 million on employee training and development annually, providing young people with the opportunity to gain qualifications through on-the job training, whilst simultaneously undertaking academic study.

MBDA – Patron of The 5% Club
MBDA is the prime supplier of complex weapon systems to the Ministry of Defence and does vital work to help protect the UK Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air force.
MBDA provides award winning apprenticeship schemes and bespoke Undergraduate and Graduate placements to young people all over the UK. Starting in 2018, they will also be providing Degree Apprenticeship Schemes to further ensure the skills gap is met.
