The results of The 5% Club’s latest SKILLS GAUGE show that although Club members are confident about recruiting, developing and retaining the skilled workforce they need in the year ahead, most believe the UK economy and business confidence has deteriorated further in the past 12 months. And employers are less optimistic than they were a year ago that the Government’s latest changes to the skills and apprenticeships system will improve skills provision.
Produced in association with The St Martin’s Group, a total of 398 employers took part in the Spring 2026 SKILLS GAUGE and the results will used by Government, Skills England, universities & further education colleges, training providers and employers – as well as directly informing discussions at The 5% Club Business Leadership Council.
