The 5% Club Heads to Scotland

The 5% Club is delighted to be hosting two events in Scotland on Wednesday 20 September.

Hosted by Centrica, The Club has arranged a round table for business leaders at Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium.

This roundtable will explore the importance of investing in a skilled workforce (through approaches such as Apprenticeships and Graduate Schemes) today and in the future. Focus will be how these approaches: can be used to enhance employer branding and employee engagement; can encapsulate social impact and the articulation of social value using organisations such as The 5% Club and can be used to increase brand awareness and win new business.

Our thanks to Professor Steve Petrie, Regional Director – Scotland, Centrica and Allan Colquhoun, University Liaison & Emerging Technologies Manager, Leonardo for facilitating this round table.

Short presentations will be made by Centrica, Leonardo and the Bell Group on their skills focused ESG (environmental, social and governance) programmes and the outcomes they have achieved.

Later that evening, The 5% Club is honoured to be able to celebrate our 10th Anniversary at the prestigious Scottish Parliament Buildings.

With an audience of Scottish members of The Club this event is being held with valued partners DYW, Developing the Young Workforce and Gold member SSEN Transmission.

DYW plays a key part in the delivery of the Young Person’s Guarantee. Employer led, DYW’s priority is to make it easier for employers to connect with young people in schools and colleges across Scotland.

SSEN Transmission is the electricity transmission owner for the north of Scotland, with sites and offices across the country. As a member of The 5% Club since 2022 as well as being awarded Gold membership last year, SSEN Transmission is committed to having at least 5% of its workforce in ‘earn as you learn’ roles such as Apprenticeships, Graduate Schemes and Student Course Placements.

Hosted by Kaukab Stewart, MSP we are delighted to also welcome Graeme Dey, Minister for Higher and Further Education; and Minister for Veterans to speak at this event.
